The rock architecture and wildlife of this east coast headland is enough to impress any sea kayaker. It is a remote and committing section of coastline that has all the ingredients for a great day out. For more information about St Abbs Head National Nature Reserve check out: http://www.nts.org.uk. It is well worth walking out to the lighthouse (cars are no longer encouraged so please respect this) at the end of the day for the spectacular view of the paddling trip.
“During March-September, the cliffs at St Abb’s Head are packed with tens of thousands of seabirds and so a recommended minimum of 100m should be given to avoid disturbing nesting seabirds. It is vital they are not disturbed and viewed from a respectful distance so they have the best chance of breeding successfully. During October-January, thousands of Grey Seals come ashore to have their pups, so it is once again important to stay away from beaches to prevent disturbance. The National Trust for Scotland thank you for helping us protect this special place.”
