The Monachs, a National Nature Reserve, are a group of very low lying islands where there is more sand than rock; beautiful shallow bays of sparkling clear water, a rich fertile machair with countless wild flowers and a fantastic view back over to North Uist. The most notable inhabitants are the ever-increasing numbers of grey seals that use the Monachs as a breeding ground at the end of each year.
