Cailleach Head translates as ‘headland of the old woman’. Who the lady was or when she lived is a mystery. The headland lies at the tip of a long finger of land that separates Loch Broom from Little Loch Broom known as the Annat peninsula, it is a remote and infrequently visited section of coastline that provides ample views and is home to much wildlife.
